Choate Bridge

    South Main Street crosses the Ipswich River over the Choate Bridge.  It was the first stone arched bridge in America.  At the time it was constructed, it was considered a radical design and not expected by many to work.  It has done its work for the past 250 years without losing a necessary rock.
