Poems

One of the earliest residents of Ipswich was Anne Bradstreet often called America's First Poet. Since her time there have been many poets who have written from or about Ipswich.  The enclosed is a sampling of some of them.  The quality may not be all as desired but they each have a significance to the town, an occasion and/or my family.

Around the turn of the last century there was a high interest in poetry and the writing of poetry.  It was fashionable for men and women to write poems and they were often published.  Ipswich seemed to have a number of prolific poets.  The quality ranged from dreadful to reasonably good.  There were also a few books of Ipswich poems published and as I get time I will add them to this site.
