Harry Main's Treasure
A story is told of an Ipswich man who dreamed of Harry Main’s treasure buried in a certain spot. Three times he dreamed it and it made such an impression on him, that one night he took a shovel and pick and went to the spot and commenced to dig. After a while he struck what sounded like metal, reaching down he found an iron bar imbedded in the dirt. When he pulled on it, it came up with a jerk and threw him back against the dirt and he swore, at the sound of the name of the deity a clap of thunder and a flash of lightning rent the sky and he found himself surrounded with a row of big black cats with blazing eyes and the hole was filled with water up to his waist. Frightened he jumped from the hole and ran terror stricken to his home. When he got home he found he still had the iron bar which he had made into a door latch to prove his story. The house is now burned down so the latch is lost. He never could find the hole again.
